Almost two years after supporters of Islamic Relief USA took on the Mud Factor challenge to raise money for its orphans fund, it seems Islamic Relief UK has also caught the Mud Run bug.
According to the Islamic Relief Challenges Facebook page, their brand new Mud Run Challenge will take place this August, shortly after Eid al-Fitr. Interestingly they are running the challenge over two separate days for brothers and sisters, presumably for the comfort of participants.
According to their Facebook page:
The Islamic Relief Mud Run Challenge is a team sponsorship event, which aims to raise money to support our Water 4 Life cause.
You will take on a very muddy obstacle course race, which will see you running, walking, climbing, jumping, crawling and laughing from the starting horn to the finish line, Insha’Allah.
The course is designed to push you out of your comfort zone, generate some great teamwork and get your adrenalin pumping. But don’t worry: a sense of adventure is the only prerequisite for entry.
It’s taking place in Dorking in Surrey, just south of London at what they describe as the best assault course in the country. If we are not mistaken, it is happening on the same course used by The Nuts Challenge.
If the numbers of attendees is anything to go by, it looks like this event could be a great success. At the present time almost 50 sisters and 30 brothers have indicated they will be attending.
We’re really excited to learn about this challenge and will watch with interest how it develops. We have seen an explosion in the number of charities holding Mud Run events to support their work over the past couple of years, but this is the first time we have seen a Muslim Charity get involved. If it is a success we have no doubt that we will see many other Muslim charities following suit. Watch this space.
In the meantime, get yourselves down to the Islamic Relief website to book your place. It looks like this is a challenge not to be missed.
